newborn session FAQ
What is included in the $1,000 price?
Newborn sessions are $1,000 and are all-inclusive. One package, all the photos. Sessions are held during the week, in your home and typically last around two hours. Your gallery includes a mix of slice-of-life, family photos and dreamy newborn portraits. I provide the wraps, bows and backdrops. Your session includes a gallery of at least 35 edited images with print release. Travel fees apply 10+ miles outside of 10538.
Do you offer newborn sessions on the weekend?
Usually my weekends are reserved for outdoor family sessions and personal family time; however, if this is the only time you are available I’m happy to accommodate and will provide a weekend quote.
My baby isn’t born yet, how do I book?
The sooner the better! Usually three months out is a good time to book. Putting a deposit down guarantees your session within the first 14 days of life. I reserve my weekdays for newborn sessions and availability will not be a problem if you’ve put your deposit down in advance. When the baby arrives, reach out and let me know a time that works for you and we will schedule your session.
Will you take family photos too?
Absolutely. We will divide time for a variety of shots. I will take family lifestyle photos around the home, sibling photos if applicable and of course, newborn portraits.
My baby is past the 14-day “newborn photography window,” is it too late?
Okay, no biggie. I photograph 3, 4, 5 week old babies all the time and they’re beautiful. I will say, however, accomplishing those sleepy, posed newborn portraits will be harder to accomplish and things like baby acne tends to show up around weeks 3 & 4. Older newborn galleries are less sleepy, posed shots and have more lifestyle shots.
What should my baby wear?
Less is more. I want to document their newborn features, rolls and wrinkles. Baby clothes tend to swallow a newborn. When our session starts I ask for your baby to be in a diaper with a swaddle and we’ll go from there!
What do you bring?
I provide swaddles, blankets, backdrops and bows. I also bring a space heater and sound machine.
How do I prep my space?
I will need a cleared space next to a natural light source. Make your bed, open the blinds and get your space photo-ready. Typically we will shoot in the nursery, living area and master bedroom. Please have all animals put away (unless you’d like them included for a shot).
Are you vaccinated?
I am fully vaccinated for Covid, HEP B, MMR, Td/Tdap and I get my flu shot every season. All of my equipment and props are sanitized before each session.
Do you wear a mask? Yes, I wear a K-N95 mask while photographing your newborn.
